The end of "Typing" code?

During Spotify’s recent Q4 earnings call, co-CEO Gustav Söderström dropped a headline that stopped the industry in its tracks: Spotify’s best developers haven’t written a single line of code since December.

For a company that shipped over 50 major features in 2025, including AI Prompted Playlists and Page Match, this isn't about doing less work. It’s about doing work differently. At Spotify, the "Developer" has evolved into the "Director."

Meet "Honk": The commute-to-cloud workflow

How are they doing it? The secret sauce is an internal system called Honk. By integrating Anthropic’s Claude Code directly into their workflow, Spotify has turned Slack into a powerful coding terminal.
