Google’s new Web Guide is an AI-driven experiment in Search Labs designed to organize search results into clearly defined categories. Instead of the traditional long list of links, Web Guide groups results by themes.

Imagine searching “how to solo travel in Japan”—instead of scrolling through dozens of links, you’ll see sections like

This makes it faster and easier to find what matters most to you.

How does it work?

Web Guide uses a technique called “query fan-out,” where multiple related searches run simultaneously. This allows it to dig deeper and surface websites you might not find through a single traditional search. Complex or open-ended questions, like “What are the best tools for staying connected with family across multiple time zones?”, return neatly grouped categories—video call apps, scheduling tools, and even lifestyle tips.

How to try the web guide?

The feature is currently available as an opt-in experiment in Google Search Labs:

  1. Visit Search Labs and sign up for Web Guide.

  2. Enable it under the Web tab in Google Search.

  3. Run a query. Try something broad like “best hiking trails in Europe” or detailed like “how to plan a budget-friendly wedding in 2026.”

  4. Explore grouped, AI-organized results.

Prefer the old look? You can toggle back to the standard search anytime. Google plans to expand Web Guide to the All tab soon, which means more users will experience this organized, AI-assisted search by default.

Web Guide isn’t just a new interface; it’s a glimpse into the future of search. AI creativity with YouTube Shorts & Google Photos

Google is also pushing creativity forward with AI-powered video generation and visual effects, powered by its Veo 2 model.

Ever wish a photo could move? Now it can. Google’s new image-to-video feature lets you create short six-second video clips from a single image. For example:

  • A mountain landscape photo could add flowing clouds and moving trees.

  • A group selfie might animate smiles and hand waves.

Currently, this feature is rolling out in the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, with a global rollout planned later in 2025. And coming soon: the Veo 3 model, which will add synchronized audio to these clips—like waves crashing on that animated beach or the sound of wind in a mountain scene.

To make creativity even easier:

  • YouTube shorts now includes an AI Playground tab where you can apply generative effects to selfies and photos—turning portraits into anime characters, comic-style drawings, or even full 3D animated scenes.

  • Google photos adds a Create Tab (US-only for now) that pulls together all AI editing and effect tools in one place, making it easier to experiment with new looks. A global release is expected by August 2025.
