Dear Reader, 👋
Flipped.ai's weekly newsletter reaches over 75,000 professionals, innovators, and decision-makers worldwide. This week, we're exploring Google’s massive shift from "General AI" to "Personal AI" a new feature that allows Gemini to actually learn who you are by connecting the dots across your emails, photos, and search history.
Let's dive in! 👇

Did you recently see an ad for beehiiv in a newsletter? We’re running a short brand lift survey to understand what’s actually breaking through (and what’s not).
It takes about 20 seconds, the questions are super easy, and your feedback directly helps us improve how we show up in the newsletters you read and love.
If you’ve got a few moments, we’d really appreciate your insight.

The AI that finally "Knows" you
For the past year, AI has been like a brilliant librarian: it can answer any general question in the world, but it doesn't know what you had for breakfast or where you parked your car.
That changed this Wednesday. Google officially launched "Personal Intelligence" in beta for Gemini.
This isn't just a small update. It is a move toward a proactive assistant that understands your life's context without you having to explain it every single time.
How it works: Connecting the dots
Previously, Gemini could look into your Gmail if you asked it to. Now, it can reason across your entire Google ecosystem.
Imagine you are standing in a store trying to remember a specific detail from three years ago. Instead of you digging through old folders, Gemini can now look at a photo from your 2022 vacation, cross-reference it with a receipt in your inbox, and give you the answer in seconds.
Real-world examples:
The tire shop test: Google’s VP, Josh Woodward, used Gemini to find his car’s tire size. Gemini didn't just guess; it saw "all-weather" tires in his old photos and suggested the right ones.
Smart travel planning: Planning a spring break? Gemini can look at your past family trips in Gmail and Photos to suggest "hidden gem" train journeys and board games your family would actually enjoy, skipping the usual tourist traps.
Hyper-personal recommendations: You can now ask: "Based on my grocery receipts and YouTube history, recommend 5 cooking channels that match my meal prep style."
The big question: What about privacy?
We know what you’re thinking: "Do I really want an AI reading my private emails?" Google is clearly aware of the "creepiness factor" and has built in three main safeguards:
Off by default: This feature will not start snooping on its own. You have to manually go into your settings and turn it on.
No training on private data: Google states that your actual photos and emails are not used to train their global AI models. They are only "referenced" to answer your specific question.
Sensitive topic guardrails: Gemini is programmed to be extra careful with health or sensitive data, only discussing it if you specifically ask.

Can you use it yet?
Currently, Personal Intelligence is rolling out to:
Who: Google AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers.
Where: Starting in the U.S. (with more countries coming soon).
Device: Available on Web, Android, and iOS.
Note: It is currently limited to personal accounts and is not yet available for business or education Workspace accounts.
This marks a shift in how we use technology. We are moving away from "searching" for information and toward "receiving" insights. For professionals and busy innovators, this means less time managing data and more time using it.
If you want to explore more about how this will change the way we search and interact with AI, Gemini's new beta feature provides proactive responses based on your photos, emails, and more
